I’ve always been a fan of black and white website design as it’s often incredibly sleek, clean and bold. The lack of color means that the designer has to find other ways to draw the viewer’s eye, and this can often lead to some very eye-catching results!
As I browse the internet a lot I had started to get the feeling that I was seeing more and more examples of black and white website designs. So… I decided to put my theory to the test and compiled a list of all the notable black/white website designs I could find.* Then I ordered them by month of release** and the results speak for themselves!
Each month of 2010 so far has seen an increase in the number of notable black/white website designs! So there you have it, a possible design trend for this year! Let me know if you agree, and how you feel about black/white designs!
* = This includes all designs I could find through the larger CSS galleries
** = Month of release may not be actual launch date of the website, but is the date which each site was featured/recognized within the design community and CSS gallery portals.

This is pretty inspirational stuff and well written for a change. Nice to see some people still know how to produce a quality post!
After i designed my site in black and white and was told how boring it was , its great to see that its now a trend,,,,
I like gray to be added in these two color combinations and these are very cool designs which you have mentioned
Great post, I am currently working on a black and white design so this is perfect for inspiration!!
Thanks.

Black and white is great but mush difficult to take a good result than other ways.
The pictures show the many possibilities you have even though there were only 2 colours used.
Some of the pictures have a lot of style and are quite beautiful.
By only being able to use 2 colours the artist had more time to spend on the style and expressions.
It’s also very clean and nice to see.
I think this could inspire me for the future, since there might be a day in wich I would be able to only use 2 colours and would have to make something like this.
Black and white websites are more popular than previous years.
It’s more creative and you see that the people learn more. Also the technology is much better.
I like black and white websites because it is a mix between old and new styles.
I can’t see myself working in only black and white because I find it a little depressing and cold.
Thanks for this article though.
