How to Create Effective Big Website Headlines

Effective Website Headlines

An effective website headline should include some of (if not all of) the following points:

Great typography

Headline typography should be big and very readable. Think lots of padding, large usable fonts, plenty of white space.

Impact

Headlines should have plenty of impact, usually being the most impactful aspect of the entire web page.

  • Bright/Bold Colors
  • Large Font Size
  • Design Touches – including drop shadows, strokes, inner shadows, bevels etc…
  • Framing – How the Image is framed within the wider page design.

Purpose

What is the headline being used for. It’s no good just slapping on some bold text, you need to consider the reason for your headline. Are you trying to sell yourself, sell a product, be funny?

Consider whether you want to draw your viewer DOWN your page, or FURTHER into the rest of your website.

Some Inspiring Examples:

Time2Project

Ficly

Silly Poems

Virtual Sky Studio

Be SuperCharged

Apps Templates

Jeroen Homan

Big Sound Mastering

Gery It
