FanExtra Relaunch Event

We’ve Relaunched our FanExtra Network!

Today we’re extremely excited to announce that we’ve relaunched our main network website FanExtra. FanExtra is the central network site for all the FanExtra blogs, including Blogs.FanExtra and of course Psd.FanExtra. It provides really affordable membership, and gives members access to hundreds of member files, such as textures, vectors, patterns, icons, web layouts, member tutorials, and of course .psd source files for all Psd.FanExtra tutorials!

We really care what our members think of the service and so have worked really hard to make the new site great. We took on board a lot of member feedback and we’re really happy with how the new site is looking. You can see a demo video for the new members area below, or continue reading to see what specific improvements have been made.

Video of the New Members Area:

You see exactly what you get for your membership

One of the main issues with the old members area was that prospective members had no way of seeing exactly what they were signing up for. With the new site it couldn’t be more transparent, as you can preview/browse every single member file without actually signing up.

The homepage now displays a live counter detailing the total number of member files available. We’ve almost reached 1000 quality files now, and will hit this number early next week.

The homepage also displays the most recent 8 files added to the members area. This is great for keeping up with what resources are being added on a daily basis. As you can see from the screenshot below, we’ve adding resources pretty much every single day now, so the members area is expanding fast. We’re also diversifying our files, so offer everything from Photoshop patterns to full .psd layouts.

You can see at the bottom of the site just how many resources are on offer:

It’s much easier to browse member files

The biggest problem in the old members area was that we offered plenty of great content, but people we’re struggling to browse it easily. As we had no search function, and the category option was very limited people really struggled to find the files they wanted, and had to resort to trawling through endless pages of posts.

As with any feedback from our members we were really keen to fix this issue, and have included some great search and categories features in the new design. This means that it’s much easier to find specific files you want to download, or you can just browse until something takes your fancy. Check out the search and category browsing options below:

In general the layout is far cleaner and more user friendly than before.

More/Better Member Resources

Whilst we already offered a lot of great resources to members, we’ve been pushing to expand our members section even more. We’re adding new resources almost every single day, and very importantly have reinstated our weekly members-only tutorial. This is something that we simply didn’t have the means to do before, but members can now look forward to one super high-quality tutorial every week, in addition to the hundreds of other resources being added.

It’s also important to note that members can use our files as they wish (except for direct resale). This means that if you enjoy a members tutorial on creating a website layout, you can simply download the .psd file for this layout and use it for your own website!

Still just $9 per month!

Despite adding vastly more files, we vow to keep our membership fee at just $9 per month. For nearly 1000 files, which all meet our high quality standards we’re confident that this is great value for money for any budding designer!

We’re so confident that we offer a full money back guarantee.

Why not sign up today and see the improved members area yourself:

Win a 3 Month FanExtra Membership ($24 Value)!

To help celebrate our big relaunch we’re offering three 3 month FanExtra memberships for a few lucky readers. These memberships will give you full access to all members files, including the dozens of files added each week of your membership.

To be considered for a membership simply leave a comment to this post suggesting a member item that you’d like to see. This could be anything from a specific idea for an icon or vector set, to an idea for an in depth members tutorial. The winners will be selected at random in a weeks time (Thursday 22nd September).

We hope that you enjoy the new members area!

Great idea Tom ! I suggest a fruit icon set.

  2. Chris says:

You really have a great package Tom, and I hope a lot of people take advantage of it. One feature I would really love to see would be some type of video tutorial, or even a live webinar. Every now and then seeing something being done in real-time makes it a lot easier for me to picture myself doing, though your tutorials are great and very easy to follow.

    • Tom says:

Great suggestion Chris. We’re going to be doing a lot of video posts at Blogs.FanExtra but it’s definitely something we want to try at PSD.FanExtra also. We’ll most likely run a trial video post and see what people’s reaction is like to it.

  3. Ari Arsyadi says:

Yes Tom, this is a wonderful offer indeed. And after browsing through the premium collection, I would really want to see some Photoshop action and web designs in PSD files as these are all I need the most at the moment and highly useful to speed up my work process.

Congratulation on the relaunch, I hope I can always get maximum advantage from FanExtra. Cheers!

    • Tom says:

Thanks Ari! We currently have quite a lot of web templates/web layout tutorials on offer in the members area, but we also realize that this is something a lot of our members are interested in. We’ll definitely continue to offer frequent web layouts for you guys.

  4. mariadelsol says:

congratulations for your new network,i have some plans for to do with it theme, i suggest a cute baby icon set.

  5. Jesse Corlett says:

I think you guys should do some premium member video tutorials for this site and maybe post some non-premium member tutorials on youtube to attract more traffic.
Maybe update your facebook a little more, it only has 1 picture on it and you guys do photoshop, show facebook some of your photoshopping sweetness and lastly promote yourself to get more facebook likes. Good luck with the new network I bet it will rock!

    • Tom says:

We’ve had a few requests for video tutorials so this is definitely something we’ll be looking into. We’re going to be having a slight redesign to PSD.FanExtra soon and we’ll definitely be promoting our Facebook page more. I think I’ll go and add some more images to our page now though, so thanks for the suggestion!

  6. Ann says:

Congrats with this relaunch! I am looking for child-therapy theme / layout or something like that. Working a lot for those paramedics who help/coach children.

  7. Tom, congrats on on the relaunch! I don’t know if you guys offer many font resources, but @font-face icon sets would be absolutely amazing! Thanks!

  8. Jen K says:

You guys really do have a great site. There is one thing that I think would be of great benefit to the design community that you could add to your site. So you have tons of great tutorials on HOW to do things; site layout, icon design, etc. Maybe a little bit more WHY to do things a certain way. Especially with the web layout tutorials. Maybe talk a bit more about why to include or not include certain things in the layout & not because ‘it looks good there’. For a lot of people just starting out & using your tutorials, it might be nice to help get them familiar with the principals of design, not just show them how to make things look nice.

    • Tom says:

That’s a really good point Jen. I personally love design theory (which I try to cover in my 30 minute redesign series), but I’ll certainly try and implement it into a few more tutorials.

  9. Su Hall says:

While I already have a membership, I want to say ‘Congratulations’! You have really created a user-friendly website! That, and the constant flow of neat, new stuff coming in, make this one heck of a great site! I’m pleased! Thank you!

    Su

    • Tom says:

I’m really glad you like it Su, that means a lot coming from one of our most active members :) . Please let me know if there’s any improvements you’d like to see, but otherwise I hope you enjoy the new FanExtra site.

  10. Olivia says:

Wow I thought you were great already and now the Relaunch!!!! AWESOME. Congrats too.
I wonder if you can provide styles for members to collect. I like the varieties of styles.
I am physically disabled and these tutorials keep me busy.
    Love,
    Olivia

    • Tom says:

Hey Olivia. I’m really glad that you’re enjoying our tutorials. We’ll definitely look at offering Photoshop styles for our members, this is something I’d started looking into already.

  11. Steve Robillard says:

Congrats on all the improvements and updates. I am off to check the premium resources to consider a premium membership.

  12. Andrew G says:

All the improvements for the site look great. For Suggestions for improvement… maybe consider adding such things such as presets which could range from swatches and brushes to actions and custom shapes.

  13. Lj Maxx says:

You have taught and given us so many fabulous textures and I would love to add – learn to make awesome metallic s all smooth and super shiny. Rich in tones of silvers-golds and bronzes for the holidays. Congrats on the relaunch too. You never fail to impress~ LjM

    • Tom says:

Thanks for the support LjM. Perhaps a text effect could work showing how to create the kind of shiny metallic effect you’re after?

        Thanks for the reply Tom..
I am looking for bk-grds to be a smooth, shiny -metallic canvas to place other holiday cheer onto.. however.. if text will teach the same effect for all it is applied to… then I say great.. bring it on!

  14. Stephanie T. says:

Congrats on the relaunch! I’m liking what I see, very nice! Much easier to get around. Thanks!

  15. Stephanie T. says:

Ooops! I forgot to add what I’d like to see, hmmm, how about a tut on making really nice buttons for the web? Yeah, I’d like to see that.

    • Tom says:

Thanks Stephanie, we really worked hard on improving the browsing experience for all our members. We can definitely include a tutorial on creating buttons and will be releasing some button/menu .psds as well.

  16. Chris says:

Wow, looks really great so far
I would like to see some fantasy tuts ;)
    Thanks
