Off the top of my head I would say either 1)make a tutorial that might be included here, or 2)create an original photoshop creation using a tutorial you have already put up.
As far as prizes go, cash trumps all

I like the idea of people posting outcomes from the tutorials. And yeah I like the idea of a cash prize, it’s just not that original 
. I ideally want something really cool and unique to generate some buzz around the site.

Heh, well if you can think of some kind of VIP status that didn’t involve a membership as such I’d definitely consider it.
a simple contest idea might be for users to create an image using only stock images provided by you in the post. they could do anything they want with them, and add text if desired… but they can’t add any new images to the mix.
another take on the idea might be to supply several images and challenge users to take those images and recreate a famous album cover or other famous work of art, again without adding additional images.
Really interesting ideas there Beets, I especially like the first one. Any ideas for prizes?

i can’t really think of anything other than the VIP stuff mentioned, cash, or something like a t-shirt.
donations made to a charity of the winner’s choosing might be cool, but i don’t know if that’d be enough motivation for most people, sadly.
Nah don’t worry about it, those are all good suggestions, although I have to agree with you that charity probably isn’t enough motivation for most people. I’ll probably go with old fashioned cash
