This tutorial has been the most comprehensive one I have seen about sharpening the image. It is really well presented and thus easy to follow.

Nice piece on sharpening! I did not know all of this! I’ve experimented a little and knew of ‘high pass’ and using some of the blending modes to sharpen an image. I have tinkered with the sharpen filters, too. But, with a clearer understanding of the different uses, it makes knowing which one to use when easier.
