		<description>Great article and super rad examples to back up your opinion. I&#039;m glad I stumbled across this - as I was too questioning the importance of design trends. As a web designer for the past 5-7years I have seen design trends come and go, and personally I don&#039;t think I have ever followed them, unless the client has asked for something specific. Some may argue design trends help the end user recognize important UI elements on the page eg &quot;The hamburger menu&quot; - but are users really that dumb we need to make everything the same so they understand THIS IS A MENU? 
I agree useability is key to the success of any website - but I also agree this can be conveyed in a way that isn&#039;t the same as every other website following a design trend. I am all for creativity, and exploring your own style that can be seen throughout each design. I think I&#039;m going to write my next blog post about &#039;sticking the middle finger to design trends&#039; - thanks for the inspiration! :) :)</description>
